Does Tuesday tu-tu-tu-tu-tu got you feeling deja vu-vu-vu-vu-vu? Well, today we're doubling up on the Ten News and celebrating our favorite two pairs and duos. I'm Bethany Van Delft. It's Tuesday, February 22nd. And this is the Ten News.

Things are often better in pairs, as a duo, or a team, especially food. Yes, so we asked you Ten'ers what your favorite food pairings were and why.
Ten'ers 0:46
Peanut butter and jelly. It's salty and sweet and I can have it for breakfast or lunch and it's always delicious. I like it when the bread is toasted for extra crunch. It's peanut butter, jelly time, peanut butter, jelly time. French fries and ketchup. I like the fries when the fries are hot and country with cool ketchup. They can be curly fries, waffle fries, regular fries, or even tater tots. But once I dip them in ketchup, I eat them until I run out. I'm grilled cheese and tomato soup. It's my favorite on a cold day. I like taking my melty-grilled cheese and then dunking it into a warm bowl of tomato soup and taking a bite. I like it so much that sometimes I eat two grilled cheese sandwiches. Whoa, grilled cheese. Yes, please. Okay, I know this might sound crazy, but I love mixing m&ms in with my popcorn. Popcorn is crunchy and salty and then I'll feel cranky and sweet with the m&m Cool. My dad taught me this and it makes movie night 1,000 times better. Hot chocolate and marshmallows. I heard that kids have been drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows for about 100 years. It was me up after I came from the cold, but it was especially awesome when I played in the snow. To be honest, I'll drink it any time my parents let me.

Oh, yes, I love all of those. What's that? What's my favorite food though? Why thank you for asking. My favorite food is rice and beans. I can eat rice and beans for almost every single meal. Except for dessert. I like really, really sweet richness for dessert. Thank you Ten'ers and a special shout out to Bennett, Aria, and Poppy for contributing. Do you want to come in on an episode? We'd love to have you visit thetennews.com/contact and tell us a joke or some trivia or just a cool fact that you love and you want to share with us. If you are a 10-year-old on this Palindrome day, you'll be 21 on the next worldwide Palindrome day. Three in honor of your future. Here's 30 seconds of advice from Sarah Natochenny, the voice of Ash Ketchum from Pokemon.

Don't take the world around you for granted and never let anyone tell you that you have all the time in the world. When you watch TV or read a book or play a game, the best thing you can do is ask how was this made? Or how was this done? And then try to answer it. I think that's the best way to get into figuring out what you're passionate about. Listen to your parents and the adults in the life that you admire. They know you best and they want what's best for you. And don't be passive about your education. Question, engage and discuss. Never stop learning learning is what makes life interesting and worth worthy of your time.

Thanks, Sarah. This Saturday, we're going to sit down with Sarah Natochenny and celebrate Pokemon Day. So tune in to hear her interview this Saturday on the Ten News Gets Extra. What's better than one cute fluffy animal? Two cute fluffy animals. Laine Farber from the Nature Nerds Podcast is here with some cool animal partnerships.

As a human, if you want your teeth clean, you have to go to the dentist. If you want shelter, you have to buy a house. And if you want protection, you have to hire a bodyguard. In the animal kingdom, you just need to find a special friend. We just became best friends. Yep, that's right. In the Wild Kingdom, sometimes different types of animals work together to accomplish tasks. Scientists call the bonds formed between animals of different species that interact closely with each other symbiotic relationships. Now, somebody else's comes in many different forms. Sometimes both organisms benefit, sometimes only one organism benefits while the other suffers. And sometimes one organism doesn't even realize it's part of a symbiotic relationship, no matter what the outcome of the symbiosis might be. All the relationships are genuinely fascinating. So let's strap in for a wild ride and take a look at three of the most peculiar symbiotic pairs. First, let's dive down into the deep blue sea to meet up with our number three couple on the list the clownfish and sea anemone. Now, you might have learned about this classic pairing from the Disney film Finding Nemo, I'm happy to report that the film's animators did their research because clownfish really do live between the tangled tentacles of these hard to pronounce tube-shaped creatures. In the anemone, the clownfish gets a cozy place to live safely tucked away from predators inside the stinging barbs at the anemone, to which the clownfish is immune because it's covered in a layer of mucus. And what does the anatomy cut out this relationship? It gets poop, and it loves it. Yes, while, eating poop might sound gross to us to the sea anemone it to nutrient-rich delicacy, clownfish, and sea anemone, a perfect pairing of a snack covered fish, and a fecal feasting monster. Now to hang out with couple number two, we have to venture to the African plains where we'll meet Meerkat and drongo. These minuscule members of the mongoose family and the sleek black feathers little bird have a most advantageous relationship. You see, the droning drongo serves as an aerial lookout for meerkats on the hunt. When the drongo sees a predator approaching it gives a warning call the meerkats to heed the warning and swiftly head for their burrows leaving whatever they're carrying behind. That's when things pay up for the drongo who swoops in and steals whatever tasty treats the scaredy cats left in their tracks. It's a win-win. The drongo gets food and the meerkat gets protection. However, troubles arise when the clever drongo hacks the system. You see, sometimes this peckish, bird decides it wants a free meal and falsely alerts its furry familiars. This is an outrage. This isn't awesome for the meerkats, but drongos don't pull pranks often. So the meerkats put up with the silliness in order to stay safe. Now let's meet up with the members of our most unique symbiotic relationship. Luckily, we don't have to travel far because this peculiar pair can be found basking on the shores and lurking in watering holes throughout Africa. Coming in at number one on our list is the Nile crocodile and the Egyptian plover. Now the relationship between these prehistoric reptiles and tiny shorebirds is unique for two reasons. Firstly, the Nile crocodile is not known as a friendly animal, the cold-blooded reptile is a top predator. Therefore, most of its symbiotic relationships fall under the category of predation. What does that mean? That means crocodiles see and treat most animals as food the Egyptian plover is a unique exception. Crocodiles don't see the little black and white bird as a pocket-sized pre-dinner snack but rather a pal who can lend a wing with a difficult task. This brings us to the second unique part of their partnership. Dentistry. What? Yes, an Egyptian plover acts as a bite-sized dental hygenist for semi-aquatic apex predators. Crocodiles happily open their mouths wide for the little birds who pick up bits of old meat wedged between their sharp teeth. Yuck. The crocodiles like getting their teeth cleaned, and the clovers are rewarded with whatever meaty morsels they can find. The crocodiles could easily snap their jaws down on the birds. They don't, they understand that the plovers provide a service they couldn't accomplish on their own. Plus, they don't really want to deal with the hassle of finding a new dentist. So, why did I take the time to teach you about interesting partnerships in the animal kingdom? Well, there's a lot we can learn from our wild brethren. Symbiotic relationships teach us that we can benefit from forging unique relationships with people that we might not have much in common with. So let's all take a note from our wild counterparts and create spectacular bonds with special people that differ from us. And who knows. Maybe you'll even make an amazing friend willing to floss your teeth.

Trivia on the Ten. A writer named Arnold Lobel created one of the best duo's and kids books way back in 1974. The illustrated besties explore their world together. Can you guess which duo it is? Is it a) cat and mouse b) Mole and rat or c) frog and toad? Did you guess it? The answer is C. Frog and Toad are best friends and their adventures are heartwarming. They make too many cookies and throw the extras to the birds to stop eating too many. They bring each other Christmas gifts, and they just genuinely enjoy spending time together. Oh, do you have a friend like that? Tell us all about them. Visit thetennews.com/contact and tell us about the duo you're in. That's all we got for now. But stay tuned because we have a second episode out today. Cool beans, man.
And here's a quick note for the grownups. Thanks for listening to the Ten News. Look out for our new episodes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and extras on Saturdays. The Ten News is a coproduction of Small But Mighty Media and Next Chapter Podcasts and is distributed by iHeartRadio. The Ten News creative team is mixing m&ms and popcorn and includes Tracey Crooks, Pete Musto, Ryan Willard, Adam Barnard, Tessa Flannery, and Nathalie Alonso. Laine Farber contributed to this episode. Our production director is Jeremiah Tittle. And our executive producers are Donald Albright and show creator Tracy Leeds Kaplan. I'm Bethany Van Delft. And thanks for listening to the Ten News. My favorite Frog and Toad story is when frog goes to get them ice cream on a hot summer day and he grabs two cones and he's walking back and it melts all down his arms and all over the place. And somehow the cones end up on his head, and they look like horns, and it's covered in melted ice cream and all these leaves and sticks and everything stick to them. And all these forest animals are running back. But Toad knows this is just his bestie who tried to get them some ice cream on a hot summer day.
