Happy America Recycles Day, Pamela.

Pamela Kirkland  0:04

Thanks, Ryan. Is that why you have one of those little picker-uppers?

Ryan Willard  0:08

What? My clock? No, that's so I can reach my snacks from my chair without standing up. See?

Pamela Kirkland  0:15

How inventive, huh?

Ryan Willard  0:20

And delicious. Should we start the show?

Pamela Kirkland  0:22

Absolutely. I'm Pamela Kirkland.

Ryan Willard  0:25

And I'm Ryan Willard. It's Tuesday, November 15th. And here are Ten Things You Need to Know Right Now. We already told you that today's America Recycles Day. Pamela, what's the next thing we need to know?

Pamela Kirkland  0:40

Catherine Cortez Masto has won reelection to her Senate seat in Nevada securing the Democrat’s majority in the Senate. Georgia will hold a runoff on December 6th between Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock and his Republican challenger Herschel Walker. Control of the House of Representatives is currently still up in the air.

A Pokemon and Puma partnership! Pokeman have found their way onto our feet thanks to a shoemaker, Puma. The collection features Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur and was released on November 12th. As for me, I gotta catch them all. And in other Pokemon news, Ash Ketchum has finally and officially become the world's greatest Pokemon trainer. In the latest episode of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys the series ashes Pikachu defeated a Charizard belonging to Lyon. Video game fans might remember Leon as the champion of the Pokemon sword and shields gala region. Congrats to ash and the voice of Ash Ketchum, Sarah Natochenny.

Pamela Kirkland  1:39

Lena Horne is back on Broadway. The singer, dancer, actress, and civil rights activist is also the first black woman to have a Broadway theater named after her. That's great!

Ryan Willard  1:52

A Russian retreat. Last week Russian troops abandon the key Ukrainian city of Karason. Ukrainian troops are celebrating retaking the city and the retreat could be bad news for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Pamela Kirkland  2:04

Severe weather in the Sunshine State. Florida was hit by a rare November hurricane that toppled houses and caused power outages. This is only the third time Florida has endured a November hurricane since weather records began in 1835. Okay, that's bad. Fighting off flu season. The US Center for Disease Control is predicting this flu season will be one of the worst in a decade. They're recommending everyone get their flu shots ASAP if they haven't already.

Ryan Willard  2:38

Solar flares down under. An unexpected solar flare knocked out a radio signal in Australia and New Zealand. Solar flares are hard to predict and if the flare hits Earth's atmosphere with radiation, it can damage satellites and disrupt radio signals. Scientists say our sun's activity will increase until 2025. Ten'ers, you can check out a video explanation at the link in our show notes.

Pamela Kirkland  3:04

Airfield Accident... On Saturday at a Dallas airshow honoring veterans day. There was a tragic collision between two historic planes. Six people flying the planes died. That was Ten Things You Need to Know Right Now.

Ryan Willard  3:21

Check out tomorrow's episode for the election breakdown and our coverage of Native American Heritage Month.

Pamela Kirkland  3:26

I'm Pamela Kirkland. And I'm Ryan Willard.

Ryan Willard  3:28

Thanks for listening to the Ten News.
