Here are Ten Things You Need to Know.

Kicking off with shattering news from the art world, a $42,000 blue balloon dog sculpture by artists Jeff Koons was broken by a woman visiting a Florida art gallery. She apparently tapped the sculpture which promptly fell to the floor and broke into 1000 shards. Luckily, the sculpture was insured and the woman won't have to pay. Good thing the art gallery doesn't have a, "you break it, you buy it," policy. UN world news, February 24th was the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian President Putin gave a speech defending Russia's actions and celebrating the Ukrainian territory they've won but ignoring the recent pushback by Ukrainian forces. US President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Ukraine confirming the US commitment to aid Ukraine and adding new sanctions on Russia. Poland honored their promise to deliver tanks to the Ukrainian military, which arrived on the anniversary of the invasion. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has urged allies to remain united against Russia.

Last Monday, another earthquake struck the Turkey-Syria region which is still recovering from a series of earthquakes earlier this month in which more than 46,000 people lost their lives. More than 200,000 people have lost their homes. This is terrible. In Syria, years of civil war have already created a refugee crisis and the latest earthquake is making aid delivery more difficult than ever. If you and your grown-ups are looking for ways to help the recovery efforts in Turkey and Syria, check out the links in our show notes. Coffee chain Starbucks is rolling out a new product for its Italian stores. Olive Oil Coffee. You serious Italians are serious about their coffee. And while Starbucks has had more success than other US chains like Domino's which closed its last pizza place in Italy last year. We'll have to wait to see if Italians embrace olive oil in their coffee.

You may remember about three weeks ago, a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in the Ohio town of East Palestine. Residents near the train were told to evacuate then emergency crews performed a controlled burn of the chemicals. Since then, residents noted air and water quality issues. Now the Environmental Protection Agency EPA ruled that the train company has to pay to clean up the water and soil that may have been contaminated by the derailment. And we've got more wild weather news over the weekend for the first time since 1989. Los Angeles was under a blizzard warning. The usually warm Southern California city has only occasionally seen snow since records began in the 1800s. Last week, extreme winter weather hit the west coast and stretched across the northern parts of the US causing power outages and dangerous conditions. Some areas saw record wind and snowfall while the southern US saw record warmth.

If you have old tech around the house, you might want to hold on to it. A woman sold her still-in-the-box unopened 2007 iPhone at auction for $63,000. Appraised at $5,000 bucks the rarity of the original iPhone and well maybe a bit of nostalgia that led to 27 rounds of bidding and the huge $63,000 winning bid.

Reptiles take over New York. A four-foot-long alligator was found in New York City's Prospect Park officials aren't sure how the gator nicknamed Godzilla entered so far away from its southern natural habitat. But rescuers were able to warm up the chilly reptile and transport it to its new home in the Bronx Zoo.

In sports news, 22-year-old field hockey star Aaron Matson has taken over as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels She's the most decorated player in their program history, so it makes sense for her to step from the field onto the sidelines. She is the youngest head coach the Tar Heels have ever had and has played for the US National Field Hockey team since she was 17 years old. Wow. And we'll wrap up with a Disney fact-check. A story was going around social media that Mickey Mouse was stepping down as the mascot for Disney. It turns out that story was started by a satirical website that makes up fake news, and it's now been debunked. So Mickey Mouse bands can rest easy about his future at Disney.
